Hi Dallin,
I loved those pics! Keokuk must be a beautiful area. You look so happy and handsome :)
What a great idea about the stake youth mission. I'm going to suggest it to our stake. If they have any questions, maybe you could get me the Stake president's name and info. We really should amp up our missionary work around here.
We were in the Island Park ward this week and heard a new Elder tell about his conversion story. It was really inspiring. He "heard" the lessons as a result of his girlfriend taking the discussions. I believe she stopped but he continued to talk to the Elders- at age 20 or so. Now he is serving a mission in the Ashton, Idaho, area. Miracles really do occur when we are striving to teach with the spirit and let our faith in God clear our fears and hesitations out of the way. I'm glad you're still teaching Agusta. She may take time but the seeds of spririt and doctrine will take hold at some point.
Cool thing--yesterday as we were leaving the cabin, Elder Glen Clark came over and introduced himself! He said he knew you and that you were doing great and you were a fun guy. Ha! He seemed like such a neat kid. He said he was definitely getting trunky at the end but that he loved his whole mission. His grandpa was with him. They've had a cabin there for years.
Well, we had a great week with Angie and Bill and then to the cabin. We actually saw a grizzly bear outside of Cooke City- He was in a clearing, sitting on his rear, digging for bugs and looking at us. I will send you a pic. The cabin was good but we missed all you 20 year olds. Dad and I did the big dinner and everyone loved Dad's BBQ as usual. It was fun. Vance and Cade ran, screamed and played on the sand and Norah sat on our laps and smiled. She is a doll!!
Dad landed a jacuzzi deal that was incredible--bottom line--$500 for a tub that didn't work. It was going to take 900.00 worth of replacement parts to make it work- BUT Bill Powell's son came over to look at it, pulled a $6 fuse and the whole thing works! It's only 5 years old and barely used. Evidently, lightening struck next to the tub and knocked out the fuse but no thought to look at the fuses!
Anyway, Dad is in his nirvana! A camper w/dually, a jacuzzi and his Calloways! He's set for the next 20 years!
Beau is doing great in AK. We talked to him Friday night and he was in a small town somewhere, cutting down trees with chainsaws and all. He is making big bucks while he is there. He actually sharpened a chain saw for the first time. He is very active in the singles ward and having a good time.
Well, I better go. We love you. The whole family is praying for you and said to tell you hi! Be strong and enjoy all that you are doing in this great time of your life!
Mom
Hey!
Your email got me laughing. I could just see the kids running around the cabin. So fun.
The first day I met Elder Clarke was in district meeting. He introduced himself and said his favorite place was island park, and after that we would always talk about it. He said he was going to go search for "Tall Timbers".
I guess he found it ! Its weird, when I was younger I probably passed the sacrament with him at the A frame.
I'm sure he told you all kinds of good stories. Love that kid.
Ha wow a hot tub? Not just a hot tub, but a struck by lightning hot tub! That's cool.
I feel like I live in a hot tub right now. Just walk outside and start swimming.
So this week was pretty good in comparison with the last few weeks. We set a date with Agusta! In her lesson things were't going very well at first, but the spirit took over. It is interesting. Sometimes in a discussion it's like a hush falls over the room, and though you are still talking, everything is just so clear what needs to be said. The scriptures in the Doctrine and Covenants about your mouth being filled are such an accurate description. So we were teaching the Atonement and we described his suffering, which is where the hush fell over the room.
I can't remember really what was said, I just remember her saying yes to her date, and somewhat having to pick my jaw up off the floor. It is for the 18th of August. Her main concern will be giving up a session of her church to attend ours. There are still alot of things for her to accept, but I know it can be done. Pray for her please.
We also set a date with a lady named Diva. She had a really great experience in the first lesson.
She was getting pretty emotional and it all seemed great. We can't get in contact with her now,
and if we do her date will have to be pushed back. Bummer.
I just got news that Jason and Pheobe are moving next week. I dont have all the details,
but that was pretty hard to swallow. They are so awesome. He was making great progress,
but I know he will get baptized later and that's all that matters.
We are teaching the first American Indian that I have talked to since I have left Billings. He is from South Dakota and his name is Francis. His wife is from Nicaragua. We have alot of work to do with them, but I guess Francis used to play ball with the Elders before he came to Iowa, so that's good.
So good to hear that all is well and everyone is happy.
I hope Beau is being safe and not stupid like this other guy I know that went to Alaska.
Love you
Elder Tall
